Killerspin JET200 Paddle Review

Killerspin JET200 Ping Pong Paddle Review

The Killerspin JET200 is the second cheapest “ping pong paddle” sold by Killerspin as part of their eight-part premade JET series. Here is our full review of the racket.

Killerspin is a fairly new American table tennis brand that has really focused on the recreational ping pong market. They have even labelled their bats/rackets “paddles” to appeal to the basement US audience. Their paddles aren’t cheap but they are well-made, and the best ones are actually pretty decent too.

Killerspin JET200 Review

Here’s everything you need to know about the Killerspin JET200 ping pong paddle…

The paddle features two 1.8mm Killerspin un-named “performance” rubbers. The rubbers come in black and blue, instead of the traditional red and black. They are not ITTF approved. It also has a cheap 5-ply blade with a green handle.

The following description comes directly from Killerspin…

The Killerspin JET200 table tennis paddle is one of the best sellers on the market…for good reason. With 5 layers of premium wood and performance rubbers, the JET200 is a step up from comparable table tennis rackets in terms of power, control and spin. The equal-weight distribution and quality construction is engineered to cater to the all-around ping pong player’s game with a focus on precision shots and finesse. Superior feel with power to spare allows you to utilize all aspects of your game for precise placement and hard-hitting shots when needed. The blue/black rubber combination will add style and flair to your table tennis game as you hone your skills with the JET200.

It actually doesn’t look like the worst racket I’ve seen, but I can’t work out why anybody would want to buy a ping pong paddle with a blue rubber instead of a red one. That makes no sense to me!

The Review

The Killerspin JET200 paddle is clearly aimed at recreational players. Looking at the reviews on Amazon it appears that plenty of customers really like it.

The rubbers are certainly better than those on some of the rubbish cheap paddles you get free when you buy a table – but they aren’t much better. This racket is slow and uninspiring. It will give you a bit of spin but not much.

As I’ve already mentioned, my main gripe with this paddle is the color choice of the rubbers. It means that you won’t be able to use it in any sort of tournament or league. Perhaps you don’t have any ambitions of playing competitive table tennis, but if you do, you’ll need to buy a new racket.

The cheap quality blade is just the final nail in the coffin for the Killerspin JET200. It gets a big thumbs down from me. In fact, it is exactly the same as the JET200 paddle. All they have done is increased the thickness of the sponge from 1.5mm to 1.8mm and stuck on a blue topsheet instead of a green one.

Other Options

If you are thinking about buying a Killerspin JET200 table tennis racket I would personally recommend paying a little bit more and going for the Palio Expert 2 instead. The Palio CJ8000 rubbers used on this racket are a million times better than the Killerspin ones.

Palio Expert 2 Table Tennis Racket Review Image

The wooden Palio Expert 2 blade is also much better quality and more similar to the professional blades you can buy individually. If you were to compare the Killerspin JET200 to the Palio Expert 2 side-by-side you would immediately be able to notice the difference between the two rackets. The Palio Expert 2 simply feels a lot better to play with.

Buy the racket

You can buy the Killerspin JET200 from Amazon or Megaspin – although, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Or why not check out our favourite table tennis rackets, the Palio Expert 2, Master 2 and Legend 2!
