iPong V300 Robot Review

iPong V300 Table Tennis Robot Review

The iPong V300 table tennis robot is a brilliant tabletop robot that is simple to use and suitable for all levels of players. It is the most expensive iPong model. Here is our full review.

iPong is a US brand that specializes in producing low-cost, tabletop table tennis robots. iPong robots are sometimes rebranded as “Joola Buddy”. iPong robots are made in China.

IPONG V300

Here’s everything you need to know about the iPong V300 table tennis robot…

The iPong V300 is the latest and best robot from iPong. It has a lot of extra features that aren’t present on the cheaper models. For example, the V300 can produce both topspin and backspin. It also has an oscillation feature which can move the balls from side-to-side. It’s still a budget robot but it is actually able to do quite a lot!

The following description comes directly from iPong…

Continuing with a two-wheel design that offers a natural ball trajectory, the IPONG V300 has all the great features of the IPONG Pro – the ability to shoot balls from side-to-side on the table. And adding to it’s hallmarks, there’s a wireless remote to control all functions.

The IPONG V300 has three main sections that snap together in less than a minute. (A great benefit, also when traveling, as it considerably reduces the overall size.)

And here’s a promotional video from iPong…

This is a budget table tennis robot that is able to give some variation to your training through its spin and placement. It is aimed at players of all levels.

THE REVIEW

The iPong V300 table tennis robot is small and lightweight. It is made of plastic and designed to be super portable.

I think it’s best to say right from the start that this is a budget robot. Some robots, like the Butterfly Amicus Professional, cost close to $2,000! The iPong V300 is on sale for about $150. Therefore, you can’t really expect the two robots to be that similar otherwise there would be no reason to buy one of the expensive ones!

However, I was quite impressed by how much the iPong V300 can do.

There’s a wireless remote that gives you options for controlling the frequency, oscillation, topspin, and backspin. That means it is able to compete with a number of more expensive robots.

One problem that I have encountered with the iPong V300 is it jamming from time-to-time. I believe this is quite common and iPong have been working to fix it. If you can find one of the latest versions of the V300 then this should be less of an issue. Megaspin is very good at letting you know when they have a new, updated version.

Finally, I’m pleased to say that the iPong V300 table tennis robot works well with both the old celluloid 40mm balls and the new plastic 40+ ones. For a while, I know a lot of players were worried that the new balls wouldn’t work in their robots due to the small increase in size – but they do. You can read our ball reviews here.
